I am a journalist, writer and researcher, with a passion for the Internet, culture, politics and the media. At the moment, I work as a research assistant at the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism and as the acting editor of the European Journalism Observatory.

My writing on tech, politics, and the media has appeared, amongst others, in the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung”, “Die Welt” and “Der Freitag”, the Swiss “NZZ” as well as the “Telegraph” and “The New European”. My research has been published in journals such as “Journalism Studies” and “Transformative Works and Cultures”.

My past and current research focus on political communication in the digital age, big data in politics and the entertainment industry, as well as the changing nature of journalism and the media in the 21st century. I also take a side interest in populism and the future of disinformation.

I also enjoy giving talks about these topics, most recently at the OII's Connected Life conference, the IJPP Conference 2018 and the Salzburg Global Seminar.

After earning a BA in Film- and Media Studies at Frankfurt's Goethe-University, I studied for an MSc in Social Science of the Internet at the University of Oxford’s Internet Institute. During my studies, I was a fellow of the journalism programme of the Konrad-Adenauer-Foundation. Past work experience includes the BBC and Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS) in London and Innsbruck.

Samples of my journalistic work can be found here, my academic work to date can be found here. Occasionally, I also publish pieces on Medium.
