Peter Kuperman is the founder and CEO of Hatch Canada, a Toronto-based education organization that teaches children how to code. Believing that familiarity with coding is an important part of learning in the 21st century, he and his team take a mastery-based approach to teaching students. Students use JavaScript and the processing.js library to learn the basics of computer science and coding through afterschool programs, weekly classes, or camps. Since starting Hatch in 2014, Peter Kuperman has maintained over 10 percent growth every month and amassed in his company’s library more than 600 projects that students can customize and complete. Prior to founding Hatch, Peter Kuperman led a successful career in the field of research, modelling, and finance. He spent six years leading an investment management company. Through his earlier positions with such organizations as the Center for Energy & Environmental Policy Research, he gained experience ranging from researching companies to building financial models. Peter Kuperman also spent time volunteering with Khan Academy. In addition to building and leading a team of volunteers, he was responsible for mapping exercises and videos for students and for coding math exercises. Peter Kuperman holds a bachelor of applied science in computer science engineering and a bachelor of science in economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
