Amy Holton

Austin, Texas, United States

Middle school technology literacy and robotics teacher. Geeky, complex, artsy, freethinking, progressive mama, wife, maker, and writer.

I've been teaching 19 years. I began making art with kids, then switched to language arts and social studies. I've also directed 14 plays, and started a "green" program at my school, resulting in a raised-bed garden, a salad bar, a compost program, a native plant landscape, and an outdoor classroom. Three years ago I shifted my focus to ed tech, teaching digital literacy to sixth graders. I love it.

At the center of it all has always been the kids; they sustain me. I think that ed tech is our best opportunity to revolutionize the way people learn. No hyperbole there.

I am aiming to connect with other innovators, teachers, makers, and thinkers. Please consider finding me on Twitter and Pinterest, where I've amassed a handy collection of resources for all of us interested in ed tech tools, maker ed, project-based learning, Google in Education, Minecraft, gamification, and so on.
