Ainissa Ramirez is a science evangelist who is passionate about getting kids of all ages excited about science.

She is the author of The Alchemy of Us(The MIT Press) he co-author of Newton's Football (Random House); and the author of Save Our Science (TED Books), which is based on her TED talk about the importance of STEM education.

Ramirez received her training in materials science and engineering from Brown University (Sc.B.) and Stanford University (Ph.D.).

Prior to taking on the call to improve science understanding, she was a mechanical engineering professor at Yale and, before that she was a staff scientist at Bell Laboratories in Murray Hill, NJ. There she developed a universal solder (a reactive solder that bonds to glass) for which she was awarded MIT Technology Review's TR100 award.
