Dr Alastair Wilson
London, United Kingdom.
I hold a PhD in economic history from the University of Bristol (UK), where I used to teach courses on global economic history.
Since leaving academia I have worked for private sector corporations and non-profit organisations as a policy analyst, market researcher and economist, dealing with industries ranging from finance, offshore oil & gas and cyber security to heritage, tourism and maritime.
I now manage the market research and statistics department for the trade association for the UK marine industry, as well as providing economic, market research and strategic consultancy services across heritage, maritime and a range of other industries.
In my spare time I continue to pursue and publish academic research. I am currently in the process of publishing my Ph.D. on the globalisation of trade in Southeast Asia in the nineteenth-century, looking at the experiences of British, American, French & Spanish businesses in Manila, capital of the Philippine Islands (pictured).
