Hello! I'm Alex, an MLIS student based in London, Ontario, studying at Western University. I'm on leave from my work as an Evening & Weekend Circulation Supervisor and E-Resources Assistant at Mount Saint Vincent University (Halifax, NS), where I also earned a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Cultural Studies.

I’m passionate about delivering content and products to help others do bigger, better, happier work. I've spent my days shelving books, developing educational literacy programs for children, youth, and seniors, freelance research and editing, throwing pizza dough, and always smiling. I can also make delicious meals, organize closets (and anything else, really), design and create garments/publications/websites, and entertain toddlers for hours.

My areas of research interest are: critical theory applied to library and information science, #critlib, folksonomies, libraries as rural community hubs, rural and small libraries, digital humanities, and craftivism (craft and activism).

I am constantly striving for that balance of aesthetics and practicality that works--the beautifully functional--whether it be my work, my writing, or my lunch. I believe in the power of kindness, a listening ear, and a hot cup of tea.

I can most often be found reading about feminism and art history, talking about Star Trek and textiles, or hanging out in a friendly space with tea, books, and yarn.
