It is my career goal to use my research skills and policy analysis experience to support community development in Philadelphia by finding progressive and pragmatic solutions to problems.

My background has been focused on data-driven policy analysis at the neighborhood and city levels. This work has taken on numerous forms: conducting research, drafting policy papers, creating original datasets, analyzing land use and economic development proposals, monitoring government initiatives, developing quality of life indicators, and working with public officials and staff.

Through this work, I have developed a strong understanding of urban governance, policy initiatives, and analytical problem solving. Drawing on my community development knowledge and work in public policy, I am able to navigate political systems and achieve results.

I have a demonstrated ability to gather and analyze information to provide high-quality, accurate work, and communicate findings through the writing, editing, and presentation of reports. Using my diverse set of quantitative and qualitative research skills, I can cut through complex sets of information to both identify problems and find clear, innovative solutions. My intellectual agility and knowledge enable me to make connections between specific issues and the broader political, economic, and cultural contexts.

In addition, I have worked in stakeholder relations – partnering with city councilors, public servants, academics, businesses, and non-profits. From this work, I have developed strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate across diverse groups and tailor information to different audiences.

I live in West Philadelphia and can be reached at ali.shott@gmail.com or 610-310-4591.
