I am a teacher and an adventurer. I love food and etymology. I've been to 42 of the US states, and D.C. I founded NeuroUnderstanding.
After teaching Latin and Ancient History in middle and high schools, I felt like there was too much I didn't know about my students' brain and cognitive development, so I went to graduate school to see what I could see.
After graduating from Harvard University's Mind, Brain, & Education program, I started NeuroUnderstanding. NU is a teacher professional development program that distills neuroscience research into useable knowledge for classroom teachers through a hybrid program of online modules following the principles of Universal Design for Learning, a robust PLC, and in-person workshops. NeuroUnderstanding helps teachers develop strategies that draw upon the strength of their students' developmental level, while patiently and effectively guide students' cognitive growth. I'm dedicated to determining and implementing best classroom parctices, and helping others do the same.
