Proud Ottawa Police officer publicly facing the challenges of depression at:

On October 18, 2014, I ran the 10-kilometre 9-Run-Run emergency services run with two fellow officers in full uniform. We did this to begin an anti-stigma campaign about mental health among first responders, including police officers, fire fighters and ambulance attendants.

Since I found the gumption to say out loud that depression is a part of my life, I just cannot seem to keep quiet about it, hence the blog site!

My reference point is January 23, 2010 when I checked myself into the hospital with thoughts of suicide. As a police officer - someone who helps others - putting my hand up and admitting I was the one who needed help was one of the hardest things I've ever done.

As painful as recovery and finding myself again has been, it's now something I'm grateful for because it has opened my mind and my heart to things I'm glad I'm not missing in life.

It's lead to the motto of my website - Altered: Changed to improve or made more fit for a particular purpose.

Thanks for looking me up!
