Alyssa Kohn

Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States

Hi, my name is Alyssa. I am a goal-oriented woman who loves being active, eating healthy, crossing items off my to-do/bucket list, inspiring others, learning and most of all biking (made you laugh, didn't it? I love to do that too!).

I am an author of a blog called Goal Getter Gurl, where I blog about my goals and my achievements. Three years ago, I pressed the restart button on my life. I wanted to live with intention and purpose, creating my own destiny, rather than my destiny being created for me by letting life take it's natural path. I sought to carve my own path, albeit rugged at times.

That's when I quit my previous employment position and sought another position that would allow me to work towards my dream of creating my own business. I began working at a non-profit social service agency, a food shelf, as an Emergency Services Intake Specialist. Here, I utilize my skills as a Spanish Intepreter as well as have the opportunity to pursue my passion outside of this position.

In 2011, I opened a bike tourism business, Minneapolis By Bike. This business combined my three loves; biking, my city and conversation.

I am truly passionate about biking and I've been biking since I was a little girl. One of my many scars comes from my first bike accident while out on a ride with my father, I even had the training wheels on still. For me, there is no better feeling than the breeze blowing in your face as you are cruising at 15 mph watching the rest of the world go by. Also, no other activity can alter my mood more than a late night ride in the cool air and bright city lights.

I simply adore my city of Minneapolis-Twin Cities. I have spent many years living abroad and people frequently ask where I would live if I had a choice. I can honestly answer that, as of yet, there is no other place I'd rather be than here. The Twin Cities is a special place. I feel that it has a distinct atmosphere and it's the one place in the world where I get to thoroughly enjoy all four seasons in their full intensity.
