I am a mental health clinician and social worker in North Carolina, USA. Looking to work at the grassroots level to improve systems of care for all people. I write on behalf of social workers, on American mental health policy and systems related challenges. I started off as a community organizer and currently working as an outpatient therapist with individuals and families of diverse backgrounds. In these settings I gained the knowledge that ambition, collaboration and genuine compassion are the best tools people can use to change an ineffective system. My professional focus is working with individuals and families through trauma and acculturative stress. It is amazing how early life experiences can shape the way we view the world. Trauma shakes up a person's world and often times a major move can prove to be a traumatic experience. Without a community supports people are more likely to fall through the cracks of the healthcare, education and justice systems.

My grand plan is to build resources in my community and form lasting partnerships in our community for all oppressed groups. Yo empecé como una organizadora de comunidades y ahora estoy trabajando como psicoterapeuta con familias e individuales en inglés y en español. Con mis experiencias, yo he notado que ambición, compasión y colaboración son los mejores métodos para cambiar sistemas sociales. Profesionalmente yo trabajo con gente que ha sufrido trauma y problemas con aculturación. Trauma cambia el mundo de una persona, también el estrés de mudar a otro país puede afectar la salud mental y fiscal de una persona. A veces ellos necesitan apoyo comunitario para seguir adelante, sin una comunidad que está enfocado en el apoyo comunitario la gente sufre en los sistemas de: salud, educación, y justicia.
