Not so long ago I was diagnosed with a debilitating form of autoimmune arthritis and had to leave my job, thus beginning the grad school journey in September of 2014 as a way to find a meaningful path back to work.

I want others to know that chronic illness is poorly understood and abysmally treated by the medical community, doubly so where women are concerned. My hope is to eventually work with others struggling with the day to day of chronic illness by helping them to tell their stories, and helping them to feel empowered to demand the good care they both need and deserve.

“We tell ourselves stories in order to live....We interpret what we see, select the most workable of the multiple choices. We live entirely... by the imposition of a narrative line upon disparate images, by the 'ideas' with which we have learned to freeze the shifting phantasmagoria — which is our actual experience.” ~ Joan Didion
