Amy Blanthorn-Hazell

Currently a final year BBA Management student at Lancaster University. In my third year I completed an Industrial Placement at IBM for 13 months. I'm returning to IBM in October 2015 on a Software Group Graduate Scheme.

At Lancaster University I study BBA Management which covers modules in Economics, Accounting and Finance, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Operations, Consultancy and Management. I am currently on target for a first class honours degree which I hope to achieve in my final year at Lancaster.

At IBM, I was a Business Operations Specialist within Global Technology Services (GTS). This involved supporting the General Manager of GTS, UK & Ireland and the operations business lines. In this role, I dealt with a variety of stakeholders to help drive cost optimisation and increase efficiency.

I am very passionate about encouraging females to pursue careers in technology and whilst on my placement with IBM, I led the Connecting Women Community for Graduates, Industrial Trainees, Futures and Apprentices. This focuses on attraction and retention of females through providing development, education and networking opportunities.
