I'm a marketing professional with a decade of experience at the intersection of music, marketing and technology. As New Media Manager at Rounder Records, I managed the online presence of a large roster of active artists, as well as the label itself. I started the @rounderrecords Twitter account, and was a key part of the team responsible for promoting the album "Raising Sand," by Robert Plant & Alison Krauss, which won the 2009 GRAMMY® for Album of the Year. My prior experience in the music biz includes positions at Q Division Records (home to many of my favorite bands) and Sonicbids. I also spent 4 years as Marketing Manager for First Night Boston, the nation's oldest and largest festival of the arts.
Before I went into marketing, I was in publishing, and before that I was an advertising copywriter. And before that, I was a Creative Writing major at Brandeis University. Before that, you probably weren't born yet.
I'm now the proprietor of Shake & Howdy, Inc., a music marketing agency that provides digital marketing and creative services to a roster of clients that includes internationally-acclaimed recording artists, music management companies, and arts-related organizations. My services include direct-to-fan marketing, web design/development, graphic design and social media management.
I'm also a freelance writer. I contributed this piece for Dame Magazine: I Wasn't Supposed to Get Breast Cancer.
In my spare time, I organize and promote a popular live music tribute series called The Cover-Up, at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge, MA. Plus, I'm a vocalist and Garageband enthusiast, and regularly collaborate with friends to record covers of favorite songs. You can hear them!
