instructional designer, Teacher, and Social Media Manager in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania
I began my training and technology path at Bostonpost Technology, a startup software company for the management of Affordable Housing. My duties evolved from software support to software trainer and developer of training classes, videos, and other instructional materials.
After a few years of whetting my creative broadsword in the training field (if you will), I moved a few states away and began a new experience in higher education - working with online instructors to design better courses and creating Captivate-driven tutorials to encourage our professors to utilize the university's LMS. In 2014, I completed my Master of Science in Education degree with a focus on Instructional Media and have since presented at various tech/education conferences (PETE&C, PACE, D2L Ignite) on the topics of accessibility in online courses, MOOC development, course design, and design thinking.
While I have over 10 years of experience in instructional design, my current passions have led me to begin freelancing in social media and community management (Doc Baker's Farmulations, Wilkes OTTL, etc.) and this new direction has added inspiring variety to my professional direction. I now teach workshops for the Wilkes Creative Writing program on the topics of Social Media and Blogging.
In my free time I study marketing and UX design, backpack pennsylvania forests, and volunteer for local causes.
Please feel free to reach out to me for any collaborative, volunteer, or professional opportunities!
