Angélica M. Sastre Rivera is an emerging soprano from Utuado, Puerto Rico. While being classically trained for the past six years, her cross training in jazz, contemporary and musical theater vocal techniques have allowed her to excel in diverse musical genres and to gain complete control of the stage while performing.

Throughout her studies, Sastre Rivera has formed and is part of the CMPR Opera Workshop, where she has played roles such as Apollonia in the opera'La Canterina' by Haydn (Spring 2024), Violetta Valéry from Verdi’s 'La Traviata' in its opera scenes concert (Fall 2025), and will be debuting as ‘La Señora de la casa’ in ‘La Historia de aquel que se casó con mujer muda’,opera by Alberto Guidobaldi, during this year's upcoming production (Spring 2026).

As a soloist, she has performed in Robert Ray’s Gospel Mass,with the CMPR Choir, and in the St. Thomas Reformed Church 5th Annual Christmas Concert ‘Do you hear what I hear?’ with the VI-PR Friendship Chamber Orchestra. Angélica has also performed in countless recitals, both during her undergraduate and graduate studies and private fund raising recitals; all through the years of 2022 to 2026.

Some of her most recent awards include, winner of Premio Escena from the foundation Propuesta Clásica (2025),and winner of Julio Marrero’s Award from the foundation DRM (2025-2026). She received both of these awards in the District Rounds of the MET Laffont Competition in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

She has also had many opportunities as a contemporary singer, some of which include singing at the inauguration of Norberto Vélez's La Loma del Temeguindo (2019), and being a back up singer in Victoria Sanabria’s Orchestra (2023-2024). Sastre Rivera has also worked as vocal coach in recording studios, concentrating on coaching salsa orchestras. Recently she has been working with cocaching to singers of the Carolina’s Delegation for the 14th edition of the Encuentro de Tambores, a celebration of Puerto Rico’s African Heritage through it’s native music, la bomba.

As part of her training she has formed part of international Training Programs such as Bologna International Opera Academy(2024) and Sofia Opera Performing Seminars(2025). As well as being a young resident artist in the organization Olga Iglesias Project,in which she does educational recitals in schools in Puerto Rico.

While studying, Angélica works as a voice and music theory teacher at ‘La Escuela Puertorriqueña para la Música’.She also works as a music theory and solfège tutor for undergraduate students at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico.

Angélica Sastre Rivera is expected to graduate from her Artist Diploma this next June 2026, and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Voice Performance (2025); both from the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico, under the tutelage of Dr. Alba Franco-Cancel.
