Many of the doors I walked through during high school were held open by people who desired to enrich the lives of those who came after them. Without their vigorous determination and constant belief in my success, I would not be the woman I am today. My passion and commitment to serve my community, and humanity as a whole, derives from their commitment to me. Permeating my life goals is my passion to invest time in African American youth and to hold open doors of opportunity for them just as doors were held open for me.

I am a recent Master of Business Administration graduate from St. John’s University in Queens, New York looking to exercise my advertising knowledge and build on prior marketing experience. Throughout my professional career, I have worked in various departments at non-profits and at St. John’s University that informed my understanding of advertising and marketing as well as strengthened my project management skills. Most recently, I served as the Project Manager for the American Advertising Federations’ National Student Advertising Competition for the St. John’s University team. As Project Manager, I managed 18 team members along with scheduling focus groups, additional class meetings and group outings. In previous years, I helped to build an international non-profit organization, Step Afrika!, grow their loyal customer base by assisting with their social media handles and teaching youth the art form of stepping. I also worked extensively with FotoWeek, a photography organization that provided their consumers a platform to distribute public art work. I organized their database of photo submissions and assisted with their gala fundraiser. My next venture amplified my knowledge of public art in Washington, DC. Working for the DC Commissions on the Arts and Humanities, I curated various government buildings with artwork and created a portfolio of photographs. After completing high school, I completed a public service internship with the White House as an intern for Michelle Obama in the Office of Correspondence.

During my undergraduate career at St. John’s University, I worked in the Athletic Marketing Department. In this department, I increased my knowledge on marketing strategies that impact the sports industry. Additionally, I had the opportunity to facilitate the first and second Women’s Basketball Black History Month events, which included community outreach of over 300 St. John’s students, student performers for the halftim
