My name is Michael J. Cohen, but my friends call me Mike. I’m an illustrator and graphic designer in Vancouver, Canada. As a freelancer I do all sorts of awesome things, like designing logos and websites, video editing and production, and painting! Most recently I worked for a local online event registration company designing their new brand identity, as well as their website.
In my spare time I like to read a ridiculous amount of comic books, consume copious amounts of video games, and watch more movies than is healthy. I host Frontlines: The Clone Wars Podcast and Quiver: The Green Arrow Podcast, and I'm also the creative director for 8-Bits of Destiny, Vancouver's premiere video game art show.
My artistic influences come from a lot of places, but the main ones are classic Disney animation, comic books, Art Deco, and a little bit of Japanese Anime. Some of the people I look up to are Humberto Ramos, Sean “Cheeks” Galloway, Mike Krahulik, to name but a few. I like to think of myself as part of the next wave of pop culture artists forging a new style in contemporary art. If that’s too hoidy-toidy for you, then suffice it to say that I hope that one day people will be able to hang drawings of superheroes and video game characters in their living rooms alongside other modern art.
If you’ve got a project and you’d like me to lend my AWESOME abilities, feel free to drop me a line at firstname.lastname@example.org
