Community Engagement Associate in Brooklyn, New York
Raised in Dubai by a Pakistani father and an Iranian mother, Arzoo's appreciation for different cultures took root at an early age, leading her to embark on a career creating connections between local and global communities online and in-person. This upbringing leaves her attuned to many cultures and languages, with native fluency in English, spoken fluency in Farsi, proficiency in French, conversational fluency in Urdu, and elementary knowledge of Arabic.
As Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC)'s first Community Engagement Associate, Arzoo works closely with artists, audiences and partners to promote LMCC's Open Studios, River To River Festival, Manhattan Arts Grants, and Workspace artist residency program. This role includes interfacing with artists-in-residence and grantees, creating print and digital content to be published across LMCC media, and engaging with partner institutions to develop and implement cross-promotional strategies.
Prior to joining LMCC, Arzoo worked as a Communications and Digital Media Consultant for the Aga Khan Music Initiative and as a Project Assistant for the Brooklyn Academy of Music’s DanceMotion USA program.
When she's not at work, Arzoo likes to indulge in the high life. You can find her swinging on hoops, ropes, and trapezes at circus school.
