Assia Kaab was born in Baghdad in 1990, just before the advent of the gulf war. Her family was tormented by Saddam Hussein’s regime and forced to go into exile. The Kaabs travelled the world before finally settling in Germany where she spent her childhood, indulging in books and reading entire sections at her favourite Library. Her rebellion and desire to express herself started in her early teenage years where she began breaking all the rules and challenging the traditionalist Iraqi community. After graduating in Philology and History, Assia resolved to write and paint all that was in her heart. Her motto: I don’t trust any revolution where love and expression is not allowed.
