Data Protection Officer, Privacy Engineer, and Data Scientist in Madrid, Spain
Thank you for visiting my page.
I am a French speaking Dutch national living in Spain. Europe is where I choose to live.
My professional mantra is: "Data is the New Infrastructure, Privacy is the New Green, Trust is the New Currency".
I help companies define strategic risk based approaches to data uses, documenting data flows, aligning them with applications' Terms and Conditions while pushing for data minimization, from the German Datensparsamkeit, in order to limit Privacy related backlashes.
I closely work with Legal and Security professionals, bridging the analytics and digital disciplines to minimize risk related to increased data uses, touching upon Data Governance and GRC best practices.
Obviously I currently spend a lot of time on GDPR implementations while keeping an eye on the evolution of the ePrivacy Regulation.
Increasingly I support companies who develop Privacy enhancing tools and services while also hedging against the creations of digital footprints of minors, on a more personal note.
The Digital Analytics Association recognized me as Most Influential Industry Contributor for my work in Data Privacy. I was invited to teach Privacy and Ethics at Spanish IE Business School after sharing knowledge about my decades worth trajectory in digital analytics. Today I also share my experience at the Data Protection Officer (DPO) Certification Course held by the Maastricht University. My volunteering work allows me to discuss ethics with eminent philosophy scholars as part of the EDPS' Ethics Advisory Group (EAG) while also listening to the engineering communities as co-chair of IEEE's P7002 initiative on Data Privacy Process standards.
Prior to that, I spent 15 years "following the money", optimizing (digital) data-based decision making processes. This allowed me to co-found and successfully sell my first start-up in Belgium to UK based Digitas LBi (Publicis).
