Bruce joined Queensland's leading web development firm Speedwell in 2002 as Software Development Manager bringing with him a wealth of technical and management experience. Bruce's experience in developing and delivering large scale database and integrated IT systems for varied industries including government, insurance, manufacturing and service is an invaluable asset for Speedwell.
In 2004, Bruce Young negotiated a management buyout of Speedwell.
Speedwell has experienced rapid growth to become one of the largest digital agencies of its kind in Australia. It has been listed as one of the top 250 privately owned businesses in Queensland and winning the Deloitte Technology Fast500 Asia Pacific award in 2007, 2012 and 2013 and the Deloitte Technology Fast50 Australia award in 2007, 2008, 2012 and 2013.
In addition to market leading web and mobile development and strategy, Speedwell also provides the Dossiere secure document distribution and annotation system to Cabinets and government agencies throughout Australia so that their ministers and board members can use their iPad to receive and annotate board and cabinet papers.
Bruce graduated with a B.Bus (Computing) from QIT (now QUT) in 1986 while working for Data #3.
Working as a programmer and business analyst for many years, he co-founded Actionquote (Australia and New Zealand's leader in insurance quotation systems) in 1992. In 1996, Bruce and his co-founders sold Actionquote to Misys plc (UK). Bruce stayed with Misys for 3 years to lead the software development team and act as a Director on the Australian board.
Bruce left Misys / Actionquote in 1999 and undertook various senior contract roles with an objective to gain education and experience into the rapidly growing technology of the internet.
