My job is to let people know about the amazing work our Parkinson's UK funded researchers are up to. I write research news stories, develop animations and engaging science based communications, act as Editor for our Parkinson's UK research magazine - Progress - and travel around the country to speak at events.

I believe science should accessible to everyone, both in the way it is written and by encouraging researchers to publish in open access journals (which anyone can access free of charge).

At Parkinson's UK I get to work as "science translator" to tell people about the latest research and scientific breakthroughs from all over the world.

I have a doctorate in cancer biology from the University of Birmingham and Cancer Research UK. My research looked at cancer stem cells. I wanted to find out how cell signalling - the communication between cells - is altered in cancer, and how when viruses hijack cell signalling they cause cancer.
