White Bear Lake, MN
I grew up in up in White Bear Lake, Minnesota. My dream is to get my architecture degree, which I will be applying for this spring. It is hard to describe the feeling of achieving you dream. I saw dream, because I've told people I was going to be an architect since the 3rd grade. Kids are still dreaming of being a fire fighter and a professional sports player. I went through pads and pads of graph paper designing dream homes. I got an inexpensive 3D modeling program to design homes in 5th grade. Right now I want to master the program Revit.
Currently I am interning for Legacy Design-Build working on floor plans and exteriors of homes. My biggest project is working on compiling a book of new build designs that clients would flip through when first deciding to build/remodel. I am learning a lot about structure working one-on-one with a contractor.
Now that my dream of being an architect is tangible, my dream beyond architecture is to renovate and restore old and historical homes. There is a beauty in the craft of wood work that is rare in newer homes. There is something nostalgic about salvaging a home’s former glory that intrigues me.
