Ben Norris is an actor, a writer, and a spoken-word artist. He was born and grew up in Nottingham, studied English with Creative Writing at the University of Birmingham, graduating with a 1st (hons) in 2014, and now lives in Cardiff where he is training at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama.
Norris’s spoken-word work explores the theatrical potential of poetry and the poetic elements of theatre, while ensuring words remain at the heart of what he does.
His poetry career began on Birmingham’s open-mic circuit before expanding to take in regional and national poetry slams. In 2013 he became the UK All-Stars Poetry Slam champion.
Following his success in the world of slam poetry, Norris now plays gigs up and down the country, and is currently working on his first one-man show, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Family, which he recently developed with support from Arts Council England, Apples & Snakes and mac birmingham with a view to touring the show in 2015-16.
His debut poetry pamphlet was published in summer 2014 by Nasty Little Press.
He also writes for the stage, and has had his plays performed at Leicester Curve and Theatre503.
As an actor, Norris has worked with the National Theatre, Frantic Assembly, the National Youth Theatre and Youth Music Theatre: UK. A full list of his credits, and his acting contact information, is available on the Casting Call Pro link below.
