Ben Southall works as an Adventurer, Presenter and Digital Journalist and is no stranger to challenging expeditions.

In 2008 Ben circumnavigated Africa in his Land Rover for his self-managed charity expedition –Afritrex; climbing the five highest mountains and running five marathons, running a website and documenting the adventure along the way.

In 2009 Ben won the Best Job in the World campaign run by Tourism Queensland and spent a year exploring the islands of the Great Barrier Reef, writing for a number of websites about the journey, presenting a six-part series for National Geographic that screened worldwide.

2011 saw Ben embark on a four month, 1600kms kayak expedition along the Great Barrier Reef with his Best Expedition in the World highlighting the fragility of this World Heritage Site to a global audience.

In 2013 Ben set a world record with his Aussie 8 expedition, to climb the highest mountain in each Australian state in the shortest ever time, 8 days. The documentary aired on Channel 7Two here in Australia but you can still see it online here (

Ben continues to work with a number of television companies and tourism organisations to promote Australia and the Great Outdoors to a global audience.

He’s never happier than running trails, climbing mountains and watching sunrise from somewhere high.
