Benjamin is a nonprofit professional serving as the Director of Operations for the Burn Institute in San Diego, California. Having worked for small-staffed organizations, he has had the opportunity to cultivate a broad skill-set, enabling him to understand how organizations are run and serve their targeted populations. Along the way, he has spent time volunteering in various capacities for organizations such as Nonprofit Management Solutions, HandsOn San Diego, San Diego Food Bank, San Diego Rescue Mission, and Team Tassy. Previously residing in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Benjamin was the Operations Manager for The Forbes Funds from December of 2011 to June of 2013. Being originally hired as an intern in the summer of 2011, he continued to be a team member and contributor. Additionally, Benjamin contributed to many projects, especially those concerning public policy with the Greater Pittsburgh Nonprofit Partnership, assisting in research for the further development of the GPNP white paper focused on the region's nonprofit sector and aided the advocacy efforts for both the state and county budgets. He has a strong interest in the nonprofit sector, enjoying the opportunity to work on efforts that cover a wide array of service areas. Benjamin's responsibilities also expanded from public policy to helping with the daily functions of the office and assisting with other projects of the Forbes Funds. Specialties: Research, Event Planning, Community Development, Civic Engagement, Nonprofit Management, Philanthropy, Public Policy, Coalition Building, and Member Services. On the side, Benjamin loves to travel. His most recent adventure took him to India for four weeks at the end of 2013 for missionary work. Additionally, he's been to Italy and Costa Rica as well as a handful of road trips across the United States. When he is not out exploring, you can typically find him training for his next marathon and keeping tabs on his favorite baseball team, the Pittsburgh Pirates.
