I direct communications at the National Juvenile Justice Network, which fights for a smaller and fairer youth justice system. I promote NJJN's work and train advocates across the country.

I also own Darn Write! LLC, which assists nonprofits and government agencies with communications strategy and projects. Clients have included the MacArthur Foundation, the Portland Police Department, Portland Public Schools, FrameWorks Institute, and CODA, Inc., the largest substance abuse treatment agency in Oregon

My creative fiction and nonfiction has appeared in The Iowa Review, Zyzzyva, The American Foreign Service Journal, and many more publications, online and off.
