Bill Pitcher is the food service director at Sacandaga Bible Conference & Retreat Center, an evangelical Christian camp in New York's Adirondack mountains. He began his position in September 2009 after nearly two decades as a volunteer and seasonal worker at Christian camps in New York, Pennsylvania and New Hampshire.
He also is a journalist, having spent nearly 10 years at The Record in Bergen County, N.J., where he was a the food editor and a restaurant reviewer. Called to be closer to family and camp, he most recently was city editor at his hometown newspaper in Gloversville, N.Y., where he got his first byline in 1992.
He has been married for 13 years to Julie, who is camp's administrative assistant. They have a tween daughter, Erika; a dog, Dito; and a bunny, Reeses. They live at the camp in Broadalbin, N.Y.
