Bret Primack

Who is this man they call the Jazz Video Guy? That would be me, Bret Primack. a passionate Jazz listener, journalist, web activist and filmmaker for my entire life. For years, I wrote articles, liner notes, etc., but when the web arrived in '94, I immediately realized the potential. What a unique way to share my passion with the planet. I co-founded Jazz Central Station, the first major Jazz website in 1994, and for the next decade, produced sites large and small for such artists as Sonny Rollins and Billy Taylor. I graduated from NYU Film School, where I studied with Martin Scorcese, and working in documentaries before discovering that I really liked writing about Jazz. With the advent of computer assisted video and free global distribution, I returned to filmmaking in 2004. And in 2006, when YouTube debuted, I became the Jazz Video Guy. My YouTube channel, Jazz Video Guy, now has over 900 posted videos with 23 million views, averaging 15,000 unique visitors daily.
