Bryan Parent

Homeland Security, Community Service, and Veterans in Los Angeles, California

Hello, Hollywood!

My name is Bryan Parent, and I'm running for the Hollywood Studio District Neighborhood Council. On May 1st, all stakeholders in the Hollywood Studio District can come out to vote, and I'd greatly appreciate yours in hopes of continuing to improve our neighborhood.

My candidacy is based on the following: Loyalty, Duty, Respect, Selfless Service, Honor, Integrity, and Personal Courage. Some might recognize those as the Army's Values, ones I lived by for years with the Massachusetts Army National Guard.

I greatly respect our current board of governors for their service to their community, but I believe it is a time that veterans had their voice heard here in Hollywood. More and more of us are coming home and transitioning to a civilian world where neither side truly understands the other. I have worked in bridging that gap with charities like Operation Supply Drop, and currently with Stack-Up.org and my friends at the Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA).

Furthermore, I believe that our board can do more to provide our community with a platform to voice opinions. I see some points of view in our community that are being shouted down and bullied. It is time those in favor of RESPONSIBLE development in our community to move forward with the support of members of our board of governors.

Finally, I would like to bring better neighborhood security and disaster mitigation and preparedness through my experience with the Army National Guard and my current pursuit of a Master's of Homeland Security. Our neighborhoods have seen increased crime and the "big one" waits, and we must stand up and be prepared to deal with both issues as a close knit community.

If you have any questions you'd like to ask me, feel free to email me at bryan.parent (at) gmail.com. I'd be happy to respond to your questions, thoughts, or concerns.

Thanks for your time, and again, I'd appreciate your vote. The most important thing is to get out there and vote in the first place, so here is some critical information about getting out to vote:
