Carrie Nelson

Carrie Nelson is a writer and filmmaker. Her articles, op-eds, and reviews have been published on websites such as Bitch Magazine, The Frisky, The New Civil Rights Movement, and Gender Across Borders (which she co-founded in 2009). Previously, she worked as a grant writer for nonprofit organizations such as In The Life Media and the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission.

Carrie is currently directing and producing Our Reality, a documentary web series about teen mothers in Holyoke, Massachusetts. Her documentary short, Just As I Am, won the Take Action Hollywood! award and screened in the 2009 Boston LGBT Film Festival.

Carrie is pursuing an MA in Media Studies at The New School. She graduated with a BFA degree in Visual & Media Arts from Emerson College in 2008. In her professional, creative, and academic endeavors, she is committed to using media to advance feminist and queer social justice.
