Cherette M. White, Soprano

Cherette M. White is a touring singer, recording artist and entrepreneur based in the NYC area. Her career started in Canada where she attended the University of Ottawa and enjoyed some years as a professional Opera singer and recitalist with Opera Lyra Canada and The Opera Lyra Young Artist Program. She enjoyed the opportunity of sharing the stage with Stephanie Blythe and Margaret Lattimore. She worked with artistic director Tyrone Patterson and opera director Michael Cavanaugh for several productions including Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel. Cherette was a featured soloist under the batons of Dr. Andre Thomas, Dr. Daniel Gordon, Lawrence Ewashcko, and David Currie. She also was a finalist and award winner for the Kiwanis competition(Ontario region) and the N.A.T.S. (National Association for Teachers of Singing) Vocal Association.

After returning to her native New York, she focused on teaching music while performing simultaneously. She delved back into the music of her beginnings- Gospel music. She was privileged to share the stage with Donnie Mcklurkin and Shirley Ceaser. She opened for the award winning Alvin Slaughter on the New York City leg of his tour in 2006. In time, she formed a music service and consultant company. Under this umbrella, she's partnered with several organizations/clients to facilitate project development in addition to workshops and clinics on a variety of topics relevant to musicians and performers.

Today, Cherette actively sings and teaches Classical, Gospel, Jazz and Soul/Pop. She currently tours actively as an independent artist and in ensemble with Mary C and the Stellars(marycmusic.com). The band was named "The group to watch" by buzzfeed.com. Cherette had the pleasure of collaborating with Jason Vitelli on his album, Confluence. She also appeared as soloist under the baton of Jazz composer, David White(davidwhitejazz.com) and the David White Jazz Orchestra for a Holiday concert series for the last two seasons. She's also appeared with Jay Stolar(jaystolar.com) on tour for his debut album "More Than We Think" Upcoming appearances include a recital and workshop series for performers hosted by Cantorsign Industries, Inc. In addition, Cherette will collaborate with soul sensation Alice Tan Ridley from "America's Got Talent" for her CD release show. "On We Go......"
