I am a programmer and currently a student at Abertay University studying a Masters course, Professional Masters in Games Development. I completed my undergraduate BSc (Hons) Computer Games Technology with a First Class degree. I started the course with very little knowledge of any form of programming and have learnt a tremendous deal throughout my time studying. I now love to code and develop my own applications on a variety of platforms and have a great passion for coding computer games.

I have taken part in a group project with a brief from Digital Goldfish (now bought by Ninja Kiwi) to expand on a Reverse Tower Defense game concept. We built a game called SpaceFish on the Windows Phone platform which had the player attack the towers and reach the other side rather than the other way around.

My course has also covered a variety of programming topics from agile programming methods to parallel programming. I have mostly learned and completed my projects using the C++ language but I also have experience using Java and C# as well as lighter experience using Flash, HTML and Python.

I have an interest in Artificial Intelligence and based my Honour's Project around the subject. It researched into how an AI system with the ability to manipulate the game world could be used to promote replayability in computer games. This was done by having an AI watch the player and make changes to the map depending on how well it perceived the player to be doing. My full dissertation is in the link below and the application code is available on my public repository.

I have learned how to program on several platforms, most notably Windows, Android, Windows Phone, PlayStation 2 and the PS Vita.

I am a big fan of science fiction, and as a result have a great interest in the Warhammer 40000 franchise. I enjoy collecting and painting their miniatures when I can and enjoy the rich and diverse universe the game takes place in.

I am also very interested in cross-platform gaming. I love how CCP have integrated different games on different platforms into the same server and have it so players in one game can affect the other. This platform/game crossover is something I am very interested in and I check the progress of EVE Online, Dust 514 and EVE: Valkyrie regularly.
