Ignited in the dark room of a high school photography class, Christina's passion for photography has led her to choose a career as an artist and photojournalist, using her lens to capture the stories of families from all walks of life. As the owner of Ad Astra Photography, she specializes in maternity, birth, and newborn photography and is an internationally-published photographer, as well as a finalist in the 2014 International Association of Professional Birth Photographers' Image of the Year contest.
In addition, Christina has been working in the veterinary and animal welfare communities for fifteen years, from her first job at age fifteen as a veterinary assistant to her current position as a PRN surgery/ICU nurse at Blue Pearl Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center in Overland Park, KS. She has also volunteered with Operation Wildlife to help injured native Kansas wildlife, as well as with the HSUS Disaster Animal Relief Team (DART). She served the non-human victims of Hurricane Katrina in the summer of 2005, aiding in the search and rescue effort and caring for hundreds of dogs and cats in a makeshift shelter in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Animals were her first love, and she is proud of the work she does to save and enrich their lives.
