Cozmin SIME

London , U.K.

Hello , I am Cozmin and this is my professional biography !

I was born in Oradea , a beautiful city in a beautiful country…Romania. I went to school at Liceul de arte where I studied Piano and Singing(Canto). Then I left Oradea for Cluj-Napoca in order to continue my studies at the Gh. Dima Music Academy where I was awarded an Master’s Degree in music . The desire of knowing more about the art of singing and the human voice made me attend several masterclasses held by some of the most important singers and teachers in Europe like Tom Krause (my favourite), Susanna Eken, Sally Burgess, John Norris, Margreet Honigh, Barbara Bonney, Nelly Miricioiu and Alfred Brendel .

My operatic debut happened in 2006 singing the role of Marcello in Puccini’s masterpiece La boheme in the Cluj national opera house . Two years later one of my dreams came true . With the same role I made my debut on Romania’s most important stage , Bucharest Opera House . Amongst other performances in Cluj-Napoca Opera house I had the pleasure of singing the role of Nick Shadow in the national premiere of Stravinsky’ s The Rake’s progress.

My international debut was in a forgotten Donizetti opera , Emilia di Liverpool where I sang the role of Claudio. This production premiered in Liverpool on the new year’s eve of 2007 in order to celebrate the city becoming the European Capital of Culture. My next adventure was to participate at the Mozart academy in the Aix-en-provence festival and later I went to sing La boheme again, only that this time Schaunard in Switzerland at the Verbier festival . I had the honor to work with Maestro Alberto Zedda at the Accademia Rossiniana as part of the Rossini festival and to perform Barone di Trombonok from Il viaggio a Reims in Pesaro as well as in Antwerp at the Vlaamse Opera. Further engagements got me back to foggy but very interesting England where I sang the roles of Figaro from Il barbiere di Siviglia , Onegin from Tchaikovsky’s Evgheny Onegin and from another Donizetti forgotten opera, L’assedio di Calais the roles of Eustachio and Eduardo the 3rd all of them with English touring opera .My last engagement was with PurPur performing Rodomonte in Haydn’s Orlando Paladino on tour around Austria , Croatia , Slovenia and Italy as part of the”Purpur, A European Opera Sound” project .Future engagements include Antonio in Donizetti’s Linda di Chamonix for the new production of Giessen Opera House (Germany) .
