Craig Wing

As an electrical engineer, MBA student, South African of Chinese descent, founder of not one, not two but three companies, world traveler, former missionary, and current blogger, it’s pretty hard to keep up with Craig Wing, let alone categorize him. Craig has a BSc in Electrical Engineering and an MSc in Usability Engineering from the University of Witswatersrand, South Africa, and an MBA from Babson College. While at Babson, Craig served as President of the Graduate Student Council and as an Ashoka U Changemaker, and was recognized for entrepreneurial and leadership achievements. Craig is currently the Executive Director of CleanTech U (www.cleantechu.org), to which he brings a wealth of business and start-up experience. in a few short months, CleanTech U has launched at 10 U.S. universities, been recognized at the Clinton Global Initiative and begun to develop the program in China. When he was 22, Craig launched a company to help partially sighted children. He followed up by launching another company helping startups find funding, write business plans, etc. Prior clients include the South African Department of Science and Technology, non-profits and Fortune 100 corporations. By 28, Craig developed a product to help partially-sighted children better utilize their remaining vision, launched the Centre of Entrepreneurship at his undergraduate university, created an entrepreneurship curriculum to train disadvantaged South African students, and was recognized as one of the top students nationally. While launching CleanTech U, Craig continues to determine the feasibility of a social investment vehicle - a mixture of VC, PE and search funds with humanitarian licenses - to invest in science and technology businesses whose products or services have social applications in developing countries, specifically his home country of South Africa.
