Danny Devriendt is born in Belgium, has the Belgian nationality, and devides his time between in Aalter, Belgium and Trouville-la-Haule, France. He studied educational sciences and agogics, the social science relating to the promotion of personal, social and cultural welfare. His healthy passion for people, Schrödinger’s cat, quantum mechanics and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy makes him an unorthodox out-of-the-box thinker.
He started his career as a journalist, working for Roularta Media Group, Mediahuis, La Libre Belgique and the VRT . He joined Porter Novelli in 1997.
He was instrumental in the communications and marketing efforts that made Bluetooth into a global standard. He worked and led the account for the better of ten years, and acted as the EMEA media spokesperson for the brand. As an EVP Social Media, he helped roll out the interactive and social skills throughout Porter Novelli’s offices across the globe.
Today, Danny Devriendt is the managing director of Mediabrands Publishing (Interpublic Group of Companies) in Brussels; the founder/Owner of Heliade* consulting and the CEO of the Eye of Horus, a global think-tank for communication-technology related topics. He has been a guest lecturer at Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management, CREA Genève, StiMa, Ghent University, covering communication technology, content marketing and digital and social media.
Business Insiderranks him the 3rd most influential ad Executive on twitter, and CEOWorld Magazine lists him in their 10 top advertising executivesto follow on twitter. For Data News Belgium, he is a key influential in the Belgian techcommunity
A passionate presenter, he speaks regularly on content marketing, narrative science, real time marketing, neuro-linguistic programming, the integrated use of digital media, augmented reality, metrics, conversation management and ethics. He conducted media and digital media training sessions and seminars to brands and organizations all over the globe. Devriendt travels the world performing keynotes and lectures on Social Media and Content Marketing (over 300 to this date). He has been featured on Social Media Day, the Bluetooth World Congress, at the Mobile World Congress, at CeBIT, the European Content marketing Summit, the Social Media Summit, The Internet is Sexy Summit in Czechoslovakia and as a keynote speaker for clients like P&G, Bluetooth SIG, Dow Chemical, Tele Atlas, The Belgian National Lottery and Parrot.
