David obtained his PhD in Bioengineering from the University of Auckland working on computational modelling of cardiac electromechanics. Following a post-doctoral stint at the National University of Singapore, David returned to the Auckland Bioengineering Institute at the University of Auckland, where he is the Aotearoa Foundation Fellow, Physiome. He leads the Auckland renal physiome project and works on a variety of computational physiology projects. David is an elected member of the SED-ML and CellML editorial boards and the CellML delegate on the COMBINE coordination board. David developed and leads the MedTech CoRE Doctoral Training Programme's Computational Physiology module. He also develops several software tools related to his work on model exchange and simulation as well as being involved in several ABI infrastructural software projects.
