Deborah Erwin

I am a professionally qualified youth work practitioner with a proven track record in a range of youth projects in both the public and voluntary sectors. I get a buzz from enabling individuals and organisations to view young people as experts of their own experiences and from supporting the growth of partnerships between young people and adults addressing community issues in ways that bring about social change. I focus on three areas: youth engagement, evaluation and research, and training.

I work with youth-focused and statutory agencies to develop strategies that enable young people to shape programmes, policies and services. With expertise in youth participation as well as youth civic engagement I am an experienced group work facilitator particularly as part of consultative processes.

I offer evaluation expertise to youth, community and statutory organisations supporting them to involve stakeholders in the evaluation process itself and working toward outcomes that are meaningful for everyone involved. In addition I apply research skills to identify key insights and learning that can inform policy development or shape project activities.

I provide tutoring, lecturing & assessment in youth work and community relations training programmes on a sessional basis, and I offer professional practice supervision for trainee youth workers as well as experienced practitioners.
