Debbie Yow

Debbie Yow built a distinguished career in college athletics spanning more than four decades as a head coach and Division I athletics director. Beginning as a women's basketball coach, she led programs at Kentucky, Oral Roberts University, and the University of Florida to their first-ever national Top 20 rankings, compiling a 70% win percentage over eight seasons.
Transitioning into administration, she became athletics director at Saint Louis University in 1990 before accepting the same role at the University of Maryland in 1994. At Maryland, she became the ACC's first female athletics director, a distinction she held alone for 22 years. During her tenure, Maryland teams won 16 national championships while achieving an 80% federal graduation rate.
In 2010, Debbie Yow returned to North Carolina to lead NC State athletics. The program rose from #89 to #15 in the national Director's Cup rankings during her nine-year tenure. She retired in 2019 and was named NC State's first-ever emeritus athletics director.
Among numerous honors, she received the James J. Corbett Award, the highest administrative recognition in collegiate athletics, and was inducted into six Halls of Fame. She now works as a consultant and trusted advisor to athletics administrators and coaches.
