Happily married to Linda Loftin. We live in PA in Amish country with our two dogs, Miles and Toby. I was born on June 17, 1946 in the Panama Canal Zone where my father was stationed after World War II. Both of my parents were from Alabama but we moved around a lot when I was young. We moved to Huntsville, Alabama in 1960 when my father retired from the Navy and took a job at Redstone Arsenal. I went to high school and college there, graduating from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 1964 with a Major in Mathematics and a Minor in Physics.

While in college, I worked at Boeing doing work in support of the Apollo Missions. I learned to program during this time which launched my career.

I am a process-oriented leader with extensive management and technical experience covering a broad range of complex system integration, information technology and software development programs in both commercial and government markets. My expertise covers the complete system life-cycle from inception to implementation. I have strong leadership skills and the ability to establish and communicate a vision, motivate others, and develop and build highly functional teams. My strengths include communications, stress management, conflict resolution, decision making, technical assimilation, planning, and resource allocation. I have experience in the management of programs and projects valued at over $100M and the management of an organization of over 300 people. I work well under stress and continually update knowledge in new and emerging technologies.

In the latter part of my career, I became involved in IT Service Management using ITIL best practices and most of the consulting I do now is related to that area. I received a Master of Engineering from Penn State in December, 2006 with an emphasis in System Engineering.

Although my vocational interest have been significant in my life, it is Buddhism that means the most to me. I became involved in Buddhism when I was in my mid-twenties while attending a Unitarian Church in Huntsville, AL. I learned to meditate and became a teacher. I had several experiences that tranformed my life. On My 24, 1987, I was ordained a Zen Master in a ceremony in Orlando, FL.
