Douglas Pettie is a Manitoba resident with 17 years of experience serving his country and a background as a company sergeant major (CSM) with the Department of National Defence. He accepted these responsibilities while deployed in the Northwest Territories in Yellowknife. Subsequently stationed in Alberta, Douglas Pettie later served at Canadian Forces Base Shilo in the vicinity of Brandon in Manitoba.
In his CSM role Mr. Pettie had a variety of responsibilities, including that of ensuring soldiers’ well being and reporting their status to the company commander. He also led disciplinary and drill activities that ensured that troops were at high levels of readiness for civil and combat operations. During times of battle, the CSM role extends to oversight of the company’s munitions supply and evacuation of soldiers wounded on the battlefield.
Achieving a commendation by his commander, Mr. Pettie was recognized for his sustained performance over the years. Family focused, Douglas Pettie presently resides in Winnipeg and cares for his daughter and a loyal service dog.
