Duke Ligon is a respected Oklahoma City energy lawyer who guides Mekusukey Oil Company, LLC, as owner and manager. He also sits on the boards of several oil companies, including Orion California, LP, and Blueknight Energy Partners. A University of Texas (UT) Law School juris doctor graduate, Duke Ligon has been active with his alma mater for more than four decades.

Mr. Ligon of Oklahoma City was the first out-of-state alumni selected to serve as UT Law School Association president, in addition to Law School Foundation board and executive committee member. His current responsibilities include a position on the UT Law School Center for Global Energy’s Energy Center Energy Advisory Board. He is also co-chairman of the executive committee for the recently launched Kay Bailey Hutchison Center for Energy, Law, and Business. In 2007, he received the law school’s Ernest E. Smith Lifetime Achievement Award.

In addition to lecturing on oil and gas at his alma mater on multiple occasions, he is well published in his field. He authored “Problems of Contractual Authorization to Collect NGPA Wellhead Prices” (Texas Law Review) and “The 90’s: Decade of Risk and Risk Management” (Oil and Gas Investor Magazine).
