Research: I am a PhD candidate in Ottoman and Middle Eastern History, writing my dissertation on identity development in the schools of Ottoman Lebanon. I've conducted research in the Jesuit Archives in Vanves, France and the Foreign Ministry Archives in La Courneuve, various university and private archives in Beirut, Lebanon, and the archives of the Ottoman Prime Ministry in Istanbul, Turkey.

Teaching:I teach courses in history, art history, and critical writing at UC San Diego and elsewhere. I've designed critical writing courses on Arab Identity, Nationalism, as well as the Arab Spring. I've also served as an adjunct, lecturing on the Middle East in the nineteenth century.
