I N T R O D U C T I O N

Buongiorno, my name is Emmanuel Federico and my focus of attention is the photographic documenting of cultures & locales; I feel eager to image human appearances in public.

E T H N O G R A P H Y
Graduated in Anthropology and appointed as a scientific researcher in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, I was assigned to video-graph and analyze the cross-cultural communication between medical rehabilitation specialists of Netherlands origin, and their patients of non-Netherlands origin. The ‘frame-by-frame’ analysis of the videos taught me the usefulness of still photographs. That ‘awakening’ directed my interest towards ethnographic photography, with the aim to narrate the social behavior of people through still photographs and explanatory notes. Photography gradually became a prominent part of my activities, and in line with that I completed a professional photography course.

Since 2008, I portray daily-life activities of people living in the Mekong River region, which is my regional focus of attention within Anthropology. The countries of the Mekong River region are: Myanmar, Thailand, China (Yunnan Province and the Zhuang region), Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. Aim is to image the Spirit of Life in the Mekong River region. Purpose is to enrich human understanding of social behaviour on a broader level.
