I'm a digital communications specialist. More importantly, I'm a man of many interests. My career in PR, marketing and digital communications has taken me through several industries and I've enjoyed working in both the private and public sectors.
Post-college, I worked for Acacia Fraternity, visiting chapters throughout the U.S. and Canada. After my short time as a leadership consultant at Acacia, I took five weeks to solo backpack through Europe getting into some interesting situations while doing some unexpected activities along the way—how about bungee jumping in the Swiss Alps? Upon my return, I headed back to Alva, Okla. to begin another journey of a lifetime—this time on a one-week motorcycle trip with my dad to Sturgis, N.D.
Grad school was incredible, and I met some of my best friends, learned from amazing professors and developed my social media and PR skills as a grad assistant at KVSC-FM. I even read the news for the station once a week, writing news stories, running the board and sometimes filling in as DJ before the next host arrived.
As an intern and eventually assistant account executive at Kohnstamm Communications, a small PR firm in St. Paul, I was blessed to work on a wide range of accounts in both the B2B and consumer worlds.
I eventually landed a job as the digital communications specialist at Metro Transit, the public transit agency of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area. There, I put my undergraduate training to good use producing photo and video content for Metro Transit's social media sites while working with the PR and marketing departments to increase brand exposure and get people excited about taking public transportation.
Just before I started work at Metro Transit though, I met my wife. We've experienced a lot so far—most notably, summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro. I eventually followed her out to Massachusetts as she started her four-year residency at UMass Memorial Medical Center. After working at the Massachusetts eHealth Institute at the New England Journal of Medicine as a social media manager, I am now back in Minnesota serving as the social media content lead at Patterson Companies, Inc.
