Fatima Ali

Hi,

I'm a Journalist from Pakistan. Working at Express News channel for
last five years as a reporter. I mainly cover health, politics, human and women
rights issues and terrorism activities happening in my city Lahore. I have been
awarded four times for best news coverage. I enjoy a lot while covering live
events, especially when there is something really adventurous going on. I have
covered several bomb blasts in Lahore and I reported them live on air. I also cover
women issues especially domestic violence and Acid burn victims. I have been
lucky enough to get an opportunity to get selected as a Humphrey Fellow for
2012-13 and now days I'm studying Journalism and communication at Cronkite
School of Journalism and Communication, ASU, Phoenix Arizona USA. Journalism is
my passion and it's not a piece of cake for a female to be a journalist in
Pakistan. I also fought a lot to achieve this position and to get a chance to
cover hardcore stories. I am passionate to enhance my journalistic abilities
more so that I could prove my male dominant society that women are equally good as men.

During my Humphrey year I'm looking forward to learning leadership
skills, advanced on line media and studio production. I am good at reporting
but now I want to improve myself on the technical sides. I have plans to work
behind the camera as well and also produce award winning documentaries. For me
no matter how much I learn is never enough.
