Staff Sergeant and Army Reserve Career Counselor in Saint Petersburg, Florida
I am an Army Reserve Career Counselor in Florida's Tampa Bay Area. As a Career Counselor (sometimes known as a Retention NCO) I am responsible for the retention of US Army Reserve (USAR) Soldiers and facilitate the transfer of qualified Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) and Army National Guard (ARNG) Soldiers to Troop Program Units (TPU) and Individual Mobilization Augmentee (IMA) units. I also conduct retention and transition training and manage retention and transition support activities.
Contact me if you have questions about the Army Reserve – especially if you are currently in the IRR or National Guard and are interested in the many career opportunities available to you in the Army Reserve.
Benefits and incentives available to Army Reserve TPU and IMA Soldiers include, but are not limited to:
• Access to Tricare Reserve Select, offering healthcare for under $50 per month for a single Soldier
• Tuition Assistance up to $4,500 per year to assist with paying for your first undergraduate degree as well as your first Master's Degree
• Servicemembers' Group Life Insurance (SGLI) Coverage of up to $400,000 for the Soldier and $100,000 for spouses.
I graduated Summa Cum Laude from SUNY Purchase Colege in May 2012 with Bachelor of Arts degrees in both History and Political Science and a minor in Asian Studies. While studying at Purchase, I spent one semester in Osaka, Japan at Kansai Gaidai University - 関西外大. I am a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success (Sigma Alpha Pi) and was selected as the Senior Class Speaker for Commencement through a highly competitive application and audition process. I am currently working toward my Master's Degree.
I joined the Army Reserve in 2003 as a Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Operations (CBRN) Specialist. (MOS: 74D) I deployed once and had the opportunity to work with joint and multi-national forces and learn how to apply my CBRN skills and training in a real-world tactical environment. In 2013 I was selected for the Active Guard and Reserve (AGR) program where Army Reserve Soldiers serve on full-time active duty in support of the Army Reserve and in 2016 I relocated to Florida.
