Furqan Hameed

Dr. Furqan Hameed was born in Rawalpindi, Pakistan in 1961. He
graduated from the University of the Punjab in 1982. He worked as a lecturer of Turkish Language during 1984-1988 National Institute of Modern Languages Islamabad. During 1985-1988
he worked as a translator and announcer in Radio Pakistan Islamabad. He was awarded scholarship by the Republic of Turkey in 1988. He completed his master with honour from Turkish Department of of Ankara University. He got Ph. D degree in 1993 in Turkish Language and Literature from Ankara University and thus became the first Pakistani.

He joined Urdu Language and Literature Department of University of Ankara in 1994 as an expert. At the same time serves as translator and ın Urdu Service of TRT. He also served as a lecturer in English Department of Ankara University during 2004-2007.

During 1995-2007 he worked as a reporter of Pakistan's official news agency APP Turkey. Worked as a reporter for the BBC Urdu Service of for a long time. He is providing his services to GEO TV of Pakistan and writing article for the Pakistan largest Urdu newspaper JANG . In 2006 he presented his first Musical play 'Pakistan Spring' on the day of Pakistan on TRT. He is providing the facilities of translator of Urdu to the official of the both countries. He was first Pakistani who was the adviser of Turkish president Abdullah Gül during his visit to Pakistan in 2008. He is married and has a daughter.
